Optimal Feedback Control for Modeling Human–Computer Interaction

چکیده

Optimal feedback control (OFC) is a theory from the motor literature that explains how humans move their body to achieve certain goal, e.g., pointing with finger. OFC based on assumption aim optimally, within constraints imposed by body, environment, and task. In this paper, we explain can be applied understanding Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) in case of pointing. We propose human computer dynamics interpreted as single dynamical system. The system state controlled user via muscle signals, estimated observations. Between-trial variability arises signal-dependent noise observation noise. compare four different models optimal evaluate what degree these replicate movements mouse introduce procedure identify parameters best observed behavior. To support HCI researchers simulating, analyzing, optimizing interaction movements, provide Python toolbox OFC4HCI. conclude presents powerful framework for understand simulate motion interface moment basis.

Optimal Integral State Feedback Control of HCCI Combustion Timing

Homogenous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engines hold promise of high fuel efficiency and low emission levels for future green vehicles. But in contrast to gasoline and diesel engines, HCCI engines suffer from lack of having direct means to initiate combustion. A combustion timing controller with robust tracking performance is the key requirement to leverage HCCI application in production ...

Nonlinear state feedback for ( 1 optimal control

This paper considers 61 optimal control problems with full state feedback. In contrast to ,~ optimal control, previous work has shown that linear {1 optimal controllers can be dynamic and of arbitrarily high order. However, this paper shows that continuous memoryless nonlinear state feedback performs as well as dynamic linear state feedback. The derivation , which is nonconstructive, relies on ...

Optimal Quantum Feedback Control for Canonical Observables

We show that the stochastic Schrödinger equation for the filtered state of a system, with linear free dynamics, undergoing continual nondemolition measurement or either position or momentum, or both together, can be solved explicitly within a class of Gaussian states which we call extended coherent states. The asymptotic limit yields a class of relaxed states which we describe explicitly. Bellm...

Feedback control for optimal process operation

In chemical process operation, the purpose of control is to achieve optimal process operation despite the presence of significant uncertainty about the plant behavior and disturbances. Tracking of set-points is often required for lower-level control loops, but on the process level in most cases this is not the primary concern and may even be counterproductive. In this paper, different approache...

Optimal control during feedback failure

The problem of controlling a perturbed open loop system so as to keep its performance errors within bounds is considered. The objective is to maximize the time during which performance errors remain below a prescribed ceiling, while the controlled system’s parameters are within a specified neighborhood of their nominal values. It is shown that there is an optimal open-loop controller that achie...
